Cemi’i Can Deliorman (*1984) is an acclaimed young conductor from Turkey and is now one of the most sought-after conductors of the younger generation. He currently holds the position of music director and principal conductor of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO). He was appointed at the end of the 2019/2020 season, carrying on a great tradition; the orchestra, which was founded in 1826, claims to be one of the world's oldest orchestras.
Recently he conducted historic opening gala concerts of new concert hall of 196-year-old Presidential Symphony Orchestra featuring world-famous soprano Angela Gheorghiu and twin sisters Guher and Suher Pekinel, who are among the best piano duos in the world. Concert is broadcasted by the world's leading classical music channel Mezzo Tv. Deliorman has conducted numerous concerts in recent years, including performances of Verdi’s “Messa di Requiem”, Mahler 4th Symphony and Kindertotenlieder, Richard Strauss Metamorphosen, Beethoven’s 9th, the Sibelius Violin Concerto, Rachmaninov’s "Isle of death”, staged productions of Carmina Burana at the State Opera & Ballet and several world premieres of music composed by Turkish composers, fueled by his passion for new music. |
He is co-founder of the Gedik Philharmonic Orchestra in İstanbul where he was music director between 2019 - 2020. In creative leadership with the orchestra, he developed unique programs with a repertoire stretching from late baroque to contemporary music, which have thus thrilled audiences of all tastes.
Highlights of 2021 / 2022 includes gala concert with world renowned opera star Rolando Villazon and soprano Fatma Said with Gedik Philharmonic Orchestra in İstanbul, recording a program of Stravinsky, Schönberg and Ligeti with Borusan İstanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, guest conductor of Qazaq State Symphony Orchestra in Astana. and together with grammy award winning artist Miches Camilo’s Piano concerto with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Ankara.
Upcoming important engagements include appearances at St.George’s Bristol in England with Hezarfen Ensemble, opening gala of Ankara Music Festival with Maksim Vengerov as soloist, attending Istanbul Music Festival June 2022 together with Presidential Symphony Orchestra & Gautier Capuçon and summer tour in Turkey with Edward Said Conservatory / Palestine Youth Orchestra.

Its first edition, taking place in September 2022, will include performances of Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Recherche, Quatuor Makrokosmos, Yurodny Ensemble, Hezarfen Ensemble, Beat Furrer and many others.
Initially trained as a violinist, Deliorman graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria. Exchange student in Westminster Choir College - Princeton USA in 2007. In 2010, he received his Master’s degree in orchestral conducting with Martin Sieghart and studied choral conducting with Johannes Prinz in Austria.
